My name is Claudia. I wasn’t born in Almere, but I grew up there. Ever since I was very young, I’ve been absolutely fascinated by pregnant bellies and everything to do with pregnancy and childbirth. So it didn’t take long before I realised, back in my first year of secondary school, that I wanted to become a midwife.
To make that dream a reality, I began studying Midwifery in Antwerp. There, I soon discovered that maternity care in Belgium and the Netherlands differs considerably. After two years, I therefore decided to switch to the Midwifery programme in Maastricht.
During my training, I had the opportunity to support pregnancies and births in a huge variety of places across the Netherlands. It is precisely those experiences that have only deepened my love for this profession. What do I love most about my work? That I get to really get to know you during your pregnancy. This makes supporting you through the birth and the postnatal period feel personal and familiar. Being able to support you during one of the most special periods of your lives remains a special experience for me every single day.
