The contraceptive pill, a hormonal method, has several variants on the market with different hormonal compositions. Mainly, there are two categories: the combined pill and the pill without oestrogen. As with any drug, side effects can occur when using the contraceptive pill.
A combination pill includes two hormones: oestrogen and progestogen. Oestrogen regulates the menstrual cycle, while progestogen prevents pregnancy. Most combination pills contain synthetic estrogen, such as ethinylestradiol. However, some contain natural estrogen or prohormones that are converted in the body. In contrast, the minipill contains only progestogen and therefore does not fall under the category of combination pills.

The contraceptive rod, also known as the hormone rod, is placed under the skin of your upper arm by a doctor. Thanks to local anaesthesia, you will feel very little of this. The rod is usually not visible because it is on the inside of your arm and constantly releases a low dose of hormones into your body. The hormone rod offers a solution for those who want to rely on contraception for a long time without having to think about it regularly. It remains effective even in case of vomiting or diarrhoea and provides a constant hormone release, minimising hormone fluctuations. Because there is no stop week, you have no control over your period, which can result in changes or the absence of your period. You will experience for yourself how your body reacts to the hormone rod after the Implanon is inserted.

There are two types: the hormonal IUD and the copper IUD. The hormonal IUD contains progestogen, which is gradually released to the uterine wall. The amount of hormone in your blood is lower than with other hormonal contraceptive methods. The hormonal IUD can remain effective for 5 to 8 years, depending on the type and purpose of use. The Copper IUD, unlike the hormonal IUD, the copper IUD contains no hormones, making it suitable for those who cannot or do not want to use hormonal contraception. The copper IUD can protect against pregnancy for up to 5 to 10 years.

Yes, we can also remove your IUD or hormone rod (Implanon).
