Jasmine de Vries

Jasmine de Vries is our new permanent observer! She will be joining our team for the foreseeable future, so you may come across her during consultations and services. She introduces herself to you below.

I am Jasmine and since childhood, I was intrigued by the wonderfully pregnant bellies I sometimes saw passing by. Little did I know then that there was a special profession involved. Until, when I was 18, I was visiting family in New Zealand and my pregnant cousin asked me if I wanted to go with her to the midwife. They had a centre there where women came for check-ups during pregnancy but where they could also give birth AND there was a maternity clinic. So I saw all the stages of midwifery at a glance and then the pieces of the puzzle fell into place for me. The next day I enrolled to study obstetrics.

After completing my studies, I gained work experience at various practices. I get great satisfaction from my work because I am present in the vulnerable, intimate but also joyful situations of expectant parents.

Calm, clear communication with a touch of humour is what is important to me and what I therefore bring to my work. In doing so, I hope to make a positive contribution to the wonderful, ever unique and sometimes exciting process that pregnant women and their partners go through.

This is because the pregnant woman, her partner, their baby and I are a team. And good teamwork allows me to stand beside you and together we can make the right decisions about the care you want to receive, so you can look back on the experience pleasantly.
